Life of a Southern Mom recently had the pleasure of working with Sudsy Box to review one of their subscription boxes. When you purchase a subscription, you will receive a box of three bars of artisan soap made by Heidi’s Artisan Soap and one additional gift or sample. Subscriptions cost $20 per box, or you can save by purchasing 6 month or yearly subscriptions.
You might be thinking, “I buy the same plain old soap from a big box chain store. Why should I get all these different kinds of soap sent to me?” This soap is more than just a cleaning product. In fact, the first thing you will see when you open your box is a sticker proclaiming that, “Everyone deserves a little box of luxury!” That is why you should get a Sudsy Box. Not because you need to replace your plain old soap (although you may!), but because it is a little piece of luxury that arrives at your door every other month.
Before I even opened the box, I knew I was in for a unique experience. I could smell a combination of scents emanating from the package. I was skeptical at first because amidst the fresh and pleasant smells, there was one that was a bit odd, yet also familiar. I tried to keep an open mind but at this point was quite concerned about what might wait for me underneath the crinkly pink paper. I pulled all of the products out of the box and lined them up for inspection. So what was that perplexing smell?
As it turns out, the box I received was, appropriately for June, the “Summer Edition” Sudsy Box. One of the soaps I received was called Summer Days. It is a lime and citronella scented bar. Citronella! That was the mystery scent! Once I realized this, I was suddenly relieved and pleased with my soap! A soap containing citronella is perfect to aid in repelling insects during long days spent outside during the summer.
One of the other soaps is called Honey Almond Oatmeal. Guess what its ingredients are? They are, in fact, honey, almond oil, and oats (among a few other things). This bar smells like a delicious granola bar or an oatmeal cookie. Yum! It smells so good that my dog actually thought he would be sneaky and steal a treat while I was out of the house. Unfortunately for him, the treat turned out to be a bar of soap. Usually I might find myself concerned if my dog ate part of a bar of soap, but after inspecting the ingredient list, it turns out that the few other ingredients are olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, and castor oil. Now I would not recommend feeding these bars of soap to your dog, but it certainly won’t hurt since they truly are all natural! Maybe you don’t have a dog that’s going to eat your soap but if you have skin sensitivities to products in lotions or soaps, chances are you can avoid irritating your skin by using these soaps made with all natural ingredients. Always check the ingredient list just to be on the safe side!
My third soap is Lemon Delight and it certainly is a delight! It has a fresh, clean scent that reminds me of drinking an icy cold homemade glass of lemonade. Again, a perfect summer scent! This is the first soap I actually unwrapped and used. Here were my concerns pre-wash: It would feel waxy, the soap would result in a greasy or tacky feeling during washing, it would leave a residue after rinsing, and the scent would be overpowering. I am happy to report that none of these occurred. Upon wetting, the soap felt quite slippery at first, not waxy at all. The soap suds up nicely and felt smooth and bubbly when agitated. There was absolutely no residue feeling afterward and my skin felt nice and soft. Finally, a lemony scent remained for a few minutes but did not linger in an overpowering fashion. The scent faded and then my skin simply smelled clean.
The final item in my box was a sample of Dead Sea Bath Salt. The final items will vary from box to box and could be anything from lip balm to body butter. My bath salt smells like walking into a day spa. I am saving this one time use sample for a time when I can actually enjoy a long bath. Time to call the babysitter!
So, do you need a Sudsy Box? Probably not. But if you are asking yourself, “Do I deserve a little box of luxury?” then my answer to you is, “Don’t we all?”
