I am the person that does a lot of hosting around the holidays. I enjoy hosting so much that I’m the one offering to do it year after year. The reason I don’t mind doing it is that I have gotten my prepping down. I know how to prep for the holiday parties and it takes all the stress off me. Here are some tips I’d like to pass onto you.

Go for the disposable stuff

Listen, I know everyone is gung-ho about using “real China” for holiday parties but is it worth it? One of my saving graces with hosting is knowing that I can just chuck everything at the end of the day. The disposable stuff is worth using for one day. I go all out and use paper cups, plates, and silverware.

Staying organized is key

I don’t think you can host a holiday party without being organized. Staying organized is the key to being a good host. No one expects you to be perfect, but it is nice when you can stay organized. Organization comes down to communicating with your guests and starting your prep early, so you have plenty of time.

Make the decorations fun

While I’m one that loves to decorate for the holidays, you won’t see me spending hours doing this. I LOVE my home looking festive for the holidays, but it’s more fun to keep thing simple. I like getting my kids together to create holiday crafts. A lot of times, those crafts are the very decorations we use around the house for getting together.
