Piggy Paint

Piggy Paint was created by Melanie Hurley. She is a mom to an 8 and 6 year old. Like most little girls, they loved to have their fingernails painted. Melanie hated the thought of her girls putting their hands in their mouths after she painted their fingernails with traditional nail polishes. Not only did she worry about the ingestion of the chemicals, but also the smell the polishes left. One day her little girl dripped fingernail polish on a foam plate and shortly after the polish ate through the foam plate. Melanie decided to test all the “kid friendly” nail polishes on the foam plates. Within minutes all of the solvent based nail polishes left holes in the plates (see picture here). This is where her quest began and Piggy Paint was born. She created a nonflammable, water-based nail polish made out of natural ingredients. Piggy Paint is free of formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, biphenyl A, ethyl acetate and acetone, which is commonly found in “kid friendly” nail polish.

Simply Southern Couponers had the opportunity to review 3 Piggy Paint Nail Polishes. We received   Mer-maid in the Shade, Jazz It Up, and Groovy Grape. My little girls love painting their nails, but I hate the chemicals that are in solvent based nail polishes and end up washing my little girl’s hands so much to make sure there is no more chemicals on them that almost all the paint usually gets washed off with it.

My little girls are excited about trying out their new piggy paint. The Piggy Paint had no smell and my girls were able to put it on their selves and I didn’t have to worry about any of the chemicals. We spilled a little but with it being water-based it wiped right up and didn’t leave any stains. I really also liked the smaller brush, unlike most of the regular nail polishes that leaves globs of paint on their nails, this one is small enough I could apply it evenly.

My girls loved getting their nails painted and it made it a more fun experience for all of us because I wasn’t worrying about them sticking their fingers in their mouths or the chemical smell. We give Piggy Paint 2 thumbs up!
