For my fellow slow to wake coffee drinkers I’m sure you’ve done this many times and know how excruciating the wait can be when you’re struggling to keep your eyes open while waiting for your pot to finish brewing. Like me you’ve probably searched high and low for an easier solution for your morning routine and come up empty handed. Well, you’re in luck because we’ve come a long way from the days of 12 cup models and nowadays there are now many different options to choose from when it comes to coffee pot models.
I was recently given the chance to review one such brewer when the opportunity to review the iCoffee Opus from iCoffee. Serial Inventor, Bruce Burrows, has a history in designing and manufacturing water purification systems, that led to the development in the iCoffee with steam brew technology that was a natural extension of his filtration experience. The uniquely designed iCoffee coffeemaker utilizes both a combination of steam and strategically placed water jets that allow the coffee grounds to fully saturate and tumble, delivering what the company calls “a smoother, yet fuller bodied brew”. When Keurig announced that they would release a new brewer system using technology that would only accept Keurig and Keurig licensed pods, Burrows moved aggressively to establish iCoffee as an alternative for retailers who would want options to current marker leaders. Burrows’newest generation of single serve machines have reinvented the “needle” used to puncture single serve pods and distribute water across the coffee grounds.
The iCoffee Opus, is the world’s first single serve brewer on the market that features the all new SpinBrew technology that features a spinning needle with jets that spins, steams and stir your coffee while inside ALL K-Cups and ALL compatible cups while brewing. It helps alleviate acidity and that icky bitter aftertaste that lingers long after the last sip. With the Opus you’re sure to enjoy the perfect cup of smooth tasting coffee every time, whether it’s your first or just in need of a refill. iCoffee offers consumers to use their favorite brands of ground coffee using the iCup Reusable.
Some great features the Opus boasts that sets it apart from it’s competitors include but aren’t limited to:
- Adjustable Brew Strength
- Works with all single-serve style cups including K-cup, OneCup, RealCup capsules and EVERY Private Label and Brand Maker.
- Removable drip tray that allows for travel mug
- Dial-a-Brew feature that lets you select a size from 4 to 12oz and preferred strength.
- Auto shut off control and energy saver mode
- 75 oz. Removable Water Reservoir

It also comes with a 1 year Manufacturers warranty to protect you against any unfortunate accidents. The Opus is available in all 1,000+ Bed Bath & Beyond with a suggested retail price of $139.99, stores and eight other major retailers will begin carrying iCoffee brewers starting early 2015.
