Hotel Transylvania & Hotel Transylvania 2

It seems hard to believe that we got our first dose of the spooky fun that only Hotel Transylvania can bring 6 years ago! I can remember the first time we watched the first installment in the series with the boys; naturally, it was around Halloween when they were craving all things ghostly, creepy and slightly scary!

They naturally loved the scene of the posh lake resort owned and operated by none other than Dracula. The imagination of this movie was incredibly fun; a place where monsters could be free to be their wacky selves without human interference! Naturally, things all go wrong when one ordinary guy, Johnny, comes along and develops an interest in the adorable Mavis, Dracula’s daughter.

I loved that the animated film combined humor, a love story and a dose of spooktacular fun that the kids could enjoy without too much terror! Naturally, when Hotel Transylvania 2 came out, we were super excited for the more fun at the resort with the Dracula family and their monsterish friends!

In Hotel Transylvania 2, Mavis and Johnny have been married and introduced a new member to the family; a cute little boy named Dennis. His status as a monster of human is still unknown to his adoring family and friends.

Things have changed around the hotel, and monsters and humans are staying together for a fun experience for all. As the story moves along, Drac and friends embark on a journey to discover whether little Dennis will show his monster power off if he will live his life as a human boy.

The story is fun, it packs adventure, drama, humor, and love into an animated film the whole family can enjoy. My husband and I loved the throwback to Adam Sandler’s Saturday Night Live day where the Drac voice first originated.

You can get both movies on a combo disc set just in time to get your family refreshed on the storyline for the July 13th release of Hotel Transylvania 3. My boys can’t wait to see this addition to the series and have been giggling at the previews for weeks!

Are you going to see this fun family film at the theater? Which of the first two is your favorite?
