A Fun Wildlife Scavenger Hunt in the Winter #DontHibernate

One of my favorite ways to get the kids out and about in the winter is to encourage a winter wildlife scavenger hunt!

It is so easy to fall into a winter rut, with cold temperatures and snow, getting out and about sometimes seems like a whole lot of effort! But, this winter my family has vowed to break out of the rut and enjoy ourselves!

This year we are getting out, getting active and making even the most mundane winter day into an adventure! There will be no hibernating this year because we have memories to make!
One of my favorite ways to get the kids out and about in the winter is to encourage a winter wildlife scavenger hunt! A quick google search can tell you what types of animals you are likely to see in the colder months where you live, and a couple of bottles of Fruit Shoot® can fuel the kids on the adventure!
We live in South Carolina, so we jotted down a list of animals you are likely to see in the winter in our area. We were looking for crows, deer, squirrels, rabbits, weasels, skunks, ruffed grouse, winter finch, and geese.
We didn’t find all of the animals. We saw no weasels or winter finch but we did find the others and we worked up an appetite! Since the boys always want pizza, we wrapped up our winter wildlife scavenger hunt at Pizza Hut. The boys were happy to see they could order Fruit Shoot drinks there and I felt good about their drink orders.
Take part in Pizza Hut®: The Literacy Project. Every time a Fruit Shoot® product is purchased at Pizza Hut® from Nov 10, 2016 – April 30, 2017, .05¢ will be donated per bottle to First Book, a nonprofit organization that provides books and other educational resources to educators serving children in need.
First Book has distributed more than 150 million books and educational resources to programs and schools serving children from low-income families.
Plan an adventure or fun activity with your family and be sure to bring along Fruit Shoot®’s drinks that are made with real fruit juice, plenty of water, and no sugar, to help keep kids hydrated.

How do you avoid winter hibernation and encourage your family to be active even in the cold months? I would love to hear from you to further encourage our activities this season!

The weather has been pretty nice around here to be able to get out of the house. A scavenger hunt is a great idea while the weather is still a bit nice. First time hearing about this organization, but it sounds great. Reading is so important for kids.
