babee talk

Life of a Southern Mom recently had the pleasure of working with Babee Talk on a review of their Eco-Friendly designer toys and bedding. Babee Talk creates organic baby bedding and accessories that are not only made in the USA, meet the highest safety standards, and are made with responsibly produced cotton, but are also stylish and beautiful!

I received the Babee Talk Complete Bedding Set in pink which includes the Eco-Dreams Crib Sheet, Eco-Chic Crib Skirt, Eco-Teether Crib Rail Cover, and an Eco-buds Take-Along Pals Set. The entire set is made in the USA, which can be a difficult feature to find in many products. Additionally, the material used to make the set is organic cotton and the dyes are not harmful to little ones.

Babee Talk Crib Set

Eco-Dreams Crib Sheet: While it’s great that it is organic, made in the USA, and has no chemical flame retardants, it is also important that it is comfortable for sleeping! This sheet is so soft and cozy that I was wanting to curl up in the crib with my little girl and take a nap. It is easy to tell by the feel of the sheets that they are a high quality material. In fact, I am certain they are nicer than the sheets that are on my own bed at the moment. The elastic is also high quality and I do not have to worry that the sheet will come loose on the edges or at the corners. The sheet is generously sized to allow for shrinking in the wash and we had no problems fitting it on our mattress. As an added bonus, the sheet is cute! It is pretty difficult to find a product that meets so many discerning parents’ requirements, but I think you will find this crib sheet has all the features you are likely to desire.

Babee Talk Sheet Pink

Eco-Chic Crib Skirt: As a compliment to the dark pink dots on a light pink sheet, this crib skirt is beautiful and functional. Now, unlike a crib sheet, the skirt is not necessarily an “essential” item. However, when your baby is a newborn, the mattress will be raised quite high, leaving a considerable amount of room under the bed. This is a great place to store items that your baby will need when s/he is older. You are certain to have gear that a three week old baby could not possibly need yet, like a high chair, maybe a walker, size 3 diapers, or boxes of larger clothes. Now that all that junk, I mean important baby gear, is stored, you certainly don’t want to have to look at it for the next five months. This is where the crib sheet comes in handy. With a nice, long 17” drop, this crib skirt will effectively hide anything you are storing under the crib. Not to mention, it looks really fantastic with it’s bold color and pleats!

Eco-Teether Crib Rail Cover: This is probably my favorite item in the bedding set. My daughter began teething a little over a month ago and I have been increasingly concerned about the items she chooses to put into her mouth. When my sister was little, she chewed on the wooden rail of our bunk bed, scraping sawdust into her mouth and making really pronounced markings in the dark wood. Recalling this and my pristine wooden crib, I considered a variety of teething options. I neither want the crib chewed up, nor do I want my child to ingest whatever dyes, lacquers, stains, or sealants might have been used in the manufacturing of the crib. The Babee Talk rail cover solves all of my concerns while still keeping my little one happy! The rail cover attaches both with Velcro and with ribbon ties. We have a very wide top rail, so we only used the ties, but it is still very secure and I am not concerned that it will fall off at all. The material is a rougher, canvas like feeling. Compared to the crib sheet, you might think it is a more uncomfortable fabric. However, there is a reason behind this. First of all, it is a sturdier fabric so it can withstand the sharp, gnawing of little teeth. Secondly, the textured surface is great on the gums to help those chompers erupt! Best of all, there are none of the chemicals that might be present in the wood, or even in other fabrics (such as chemical flame retardants).

Here come the teeth!

Eco-buds Take-Along Pals: While the Crib Rail Cover is my favorite item, my daughter’s favorite is the Take-Along Pals. The Crib Rail Cover has two Velcro tabs which allow you to attach the straps of the Pals to the rail cover. This is a great way to keep track of where they are when you aren’t taking them along somewhere. It also allows your child to access them from inside the crib (this may require some manipulation if they are hanging on the outside). The Velcro of the Pals can also be attached to its own strap to use for hanging from other places like a swing, stroller, or carrier. These are a cute and fun addition to the bedding set. Just like all the other components of the set, these are also made of organic cotton and are hypoallergenic, non-toxic, and Phthalate-free.
