The school year has officially started and that means it’s time to get into a new routine. If your boys struggle with diving into a new school year, you’ll want to check out these tips to help them handle it like champs:
#1. Hearty Breakfast
You can’t expect a boy to handle school like a champ when they haven’t had a hearty breakfast. Every child needs a great breakfast to get them started off on the right foot this school year.
#2. Plenty of Sleep
Make sure those boys of yours are getting to bed on time. It’s so easy to let them stay up, not realizing what it does to them and their routine. Sleep is so important to help them be successful this school year.
When it comes to sending your boys to school this year, routine is so important. Boys thrive off of a routine, so make sure yours are in one.
#4. A Way to Relieve Stress
Kids get stressed out too. It’s important to offer them a way to relieve it. Let them ride their bike, jump on the trampoline, or even write in a journal. Anything that helps them take their focus off their stress.
#5. A Place to Complete Homework
When your boys get home from school and it’s time to do homework, provide them a place to complete that homework. It’s nice having a place to go and “get business taken care of.”
#6. A Place to Relax & Chill
There’s something about boys and relaxing. They need a place to take their mind off of things. Something as simple as a couch or a beanbag chair in their room is a great place to allow them to unwind. You could also get creative and create a space just for them.
#7. A Way to Express Themselves
Perhaps your boys need a way to express themselves to help them handle the school year a little better. Let’s face it, they are sitting in a classroom all day doing what someone else tells them to do. Your boys can express themselves through sports, painting, drawing, talking, karate, or whatever else you (or they) can think of.
#8. Time to Get Ready in the Morning
If there’s something most moms of boys can agree on is that they are not always easy to get motivated in the morning. Note: some. However, boys need time to get ready in the morning and to adjust. Handling this school year like a champ comes by having time to get ready and adjust in the morning.
#9. Time by Themselves to Unwind (No Siblings Allowed)
Some boys need time to unwind by themselves. When they come home from school, let them sit in their room or bounce the basketball without having to talk or explain anything.
#10. Boundaries at Home & School
Your boys will need boundaries for home and school. They need to know what’s okay and what is not okay. This will help them handle back to school like champs!
