Parenting Tips for Moms of Boys
Moms of boys have the special privilege of raising soon to be men. However, there are trials along the way for most moms of boys. Here are some parenting tips for moms who just need a little bit of extra help handling those boys:

1. Share your expectations

When it comes to parenting your boys, share your expectations with them. Sometimes they really do need to know what’s expected of them.

2. Have a reward chart in place

Some boys just need to be rewarded for their positive actions. A reward chart is a way to reward them for listening and making wise choices.

3.  Always communicate with your boys

Don’t be afraid to communicate with your boys. The more you teach them about communication the better off they will be throughout their lives.

4. Don’t be afraid to love and hug your boys

Sometimes society gets so caught up in making boys out of men that we forget to love and hug on our boys. Don’t be afraid to love on them and hug them when you can.

5. Spend as much time together as you can

Boys are easily influenced and if you are the best influence they have around, spend as much time as you can with them. They only get one shot at a childhood and it’s important they come out of it being the best they can be.

6. Reinforce the rules when necessary

Boys are only human. It’s vital to reinforce the rules when necessary. This doesn’t mean you should repeat yourself every five minutes, but you can give them a head’s up before the day or activity begins. A little reminder never hurt anyone.

7. Instead of yelling, use tactics that will build them up

Yelling is sometimes the first instinct of a parent. Instead of yelling at your child, keep calm and approach the issue that way. Always use tactics that will build up your boys instead of tearing them down.

8. Don’t be afraid to get your point across

There will be some days where you just have to get your point across. As long as you do it in a loving way, there’s nothing wrong with teaching your boys life skills and lessons.

9. Allow your boys to learn from their mistakes

You can’t be there to fix every mistake that your boys make. Allow them to learn from their mistakes from time to time.

10. Don’t pick apart everything they do

The last thing your boys need is a parent that picks apart everything that they do. Try to find ways to build up what they have accomplished, instead of making them feel worse for their failures.
